A campaign on unrecognized schools by Yogi Government:
This campaign led by the Yogi Government, targets schools in Uttar Pradesh (U.P.) operating without proper recognition or whose recognition has been rescinded, thereby lacking proper documentation. The initiative includes rigorous actions against these institutions, resulting in fines of Rs 1 lakh.
As a response to this campaign, the ‘Directorate of Basic Education’ has issued guidelines and directives to all ‘Basic Education Officers’, mandating them to submit a report by November 22nd regarding unregistered schools in all districts or those whose recognition has been rescinded.
A Letter has been dispatched to the Basic Education Officers of all districts, delivered by Joint Director of Basic Education, Mr. Ganesh Kumar. These officers have been directed to actively participate and excel in this campaign.
According to the Free and Compulsory Education Act, it is crucial for schools to obtain recognition. The Uttar Pradesh Government operates various types of schools, including primary schools, junior high schools, and aided junior high schools, to ensure that children up to the age of 14 receive quality education. This investment in education aims to pave the way for a brighter future for these children. However, it is imperative that these schools achieve full recognition.
In addition, all Block Education Officers have received instructions to verify the recognition status of schools within their respective blocks by providing certificates and evidence. If any school is found to be unrecognized, they are required to promptly report this information to the Directorate of Basic Education by November 22nd.
Operating a school without proper recognition is strictly prohibited. In the event of such non-compliance, a penalty of Rs 1 lakh will be imposed upon discovery, and if the school persists in its unrecognized status, it will incur a daily fine of Rs 10,000.
